What is fasting?
Fasting is an ancient biblical practice. It is simply abstaining from something, withholding it from yourself for a period of time, usually food, as a sign of devotion to God.
Jesus fasted, he expected that his followers would fast. When you do it consistently and combine it with a pure heart of prayer and seeking God, you will find it opens up all kinds of opportunities in your spiritual life. When you fast over time, you step on the spiritual scale and you see change.
It’s revolutionary for sure, because we live in a time when we are told to never deny ourselves anything we desire… all of our cravings and desires are to be met and filled … because our wants are so so important.
When?
Fast for 24 hours, once a week through January. Every Thursday night after dinner to Friday night at dinner.
January 7, 14, 21, 28
How?
Text the word "fast" to 877-622-1824 to get text reminders, scripture and encouragement during your fasting time.
Put it on your calendar to remind you Thursday night and Friday morning. At that time stop eating. It's wise to drink fluids and recommended during your fast. If you have a medical reason to not fast from food, check with your doctor. Find something else to abstain from like your phone, TV, or social media, or something that will change up your routine.
If you are able, set aside some time for prayer, journaling, read scripture, and listen to the Lord. Keep your mind clear so you can hear from the Lord.
Don’t expect too much, but be expectant that God will speak, work, reveal, heal, and challenge.
