    Blessings in a Backpack

Mountain has partnered with Magnolia Elementary School for Blessings in a Backpack. Blessings in a Backpack is a unique program designed to feed elementary school children on the weekends. It is specifically for children in Title 1 schools whose families qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal program during the school week but may have little to no food on the weekends. It is a results-oriented program. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance all attribute to the success of this program.

    Opportunities Include

    • Sponsoring a child for $100/year (this feeds a child in the program each weekend for an entire school year)
    • Packing lunches on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at Magnolia Elementary School
    • Providing food items (non-perishable, ready to eat items such as granola bars, tuna, crackers, mac & cheese, soup, fresh fruit, cereal and juice boxes)
    • Encouraging teachers through luncheons, notes and goody bags

    Volunteer
To get involved with Blessings in a Backpack, please email Patty Genco or call 410-877-1824 ext. 111.
