Increase Your Bible Intake

Making the most of your Bible reading

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

An abiding relationship with Jesus cannot be sustained without getting in God’s Word. It just can’t. There are many ways to abide with Jesus including prayer, worship, silence and solitude, and other spiritual practices, but spending time in God’s Word is one of the main ingredients. Abiding with Jesus cannot happen without you spending time in the Bible.

Bible intake is the most basic and most important thing you can do - to get God’s Word in and around your heart. When you’re coming to the Bible it’s important to…

  1. Come humbly, in prayer
When you approach the Bible with a posture of humility and in prayer, you’re saying, “Lord, you’re in charge. I’m here to submit to you. I’m here to serve you. Being here is a gift and I’m ready and eager to meet you.”
  2. Come to be with Jesus
Come to the Bible to learn, but more importantly come just to meet Jesus face to face.
  3. Come with open hearts, hands, and minds
As you wait humbly and in prayer, let God do the speaking from these pages, and come ready to receive what the Holy Spirit is revealing to you.
